How can i change my WordPress theme?

I have a question

ive downloaded several themes and ive read the instructions provided by wordpress.com but still im confused. it seemed so complex and I DONT UNDERSTAAAAND!! oh my god help me please.  i know WP provides some themes. but i dont want those. i want the ones ive downloaded. i just dont know how to activate them

A:  You cannot use your own themes on WordPress.com.  They don’t want you uploading stuff, including plugins, because bad people stick malicious code into them.  If you want to use your own themes, then you have to get your own web hosting account and do the 1-click WordPress install from within your account’s control panel.  I recommend web hosting that uses cPanel control panel.  It’s the best and easiest to use.  Click here to find a web hosting account

How do I get my sidebar back on WordPress?

I have a question

I added a theme on my wordpress, and once I did my sidebar disappeared. How do I get it back?

Answer:  There are two ways to do this.  Go to the widgets page and drag the widgets you want from the left side over to the sidebar on the right side of the screen.  Or, scroll down and see the Inactive Widgets section?  They were place in there when you switched themes.  You can drag them out of there, if you had custom settings you don’t want to lose.

WordPress theme not working, won’t install

I have a question

Hi,

I’m using a domain through 1and1, uploading with Dreamweaver and using wordpress for a blog attached to the site. There is a theme I really want to use, but no matter what I do, it will not work. The most luck I have had is by downloading the theme directly to my computer, putting it in the wp-content/themes folder, and uploading that to the server. Then, when I go into the blog and try to change themes, the correct theme shows up and I am able to click the “Activate” button. When I click activate, it brings me to an error page and shows this text:

Warning: main(/homepages/5/d355777174/htdocs/public_html/Blog/wp-content/themes/masikap/functions/library.php) [function.main]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /homepages/5/d355777174/htdocs/public_html/Blog/wp-content/themes/masikap 2/functions.php on line 28

Fatal error: main() [function.require]: Failed opening required ‘/homepages/5/d355777174/htdocs/public_html/Blog/wp-content/themes/masikap/functions/library.php’ (include_path=’.:/usr/lib/php’) in /homepages/5/d355777174/htdocs/public_html/Blog/wp-content/themes/masikap 2/functions.php on line 28

Is there any way for me to repair this error? I really want to use this theme and I have tried downloading it from different sources in case the place I got it from was corrupt, but it’s always the same error message.

How do you make wordpress post titles appear in google search?

I have a question

I can find my wordpress blog by searching for the title of the blog, however, if I search for a particular post title it will not come up. Is there any way of making this happen?  Also, any tips on personalising it so it looks more like it’s own website

How do I change the WordPress.com theme to something they don’t have

I have a question

I’ve had Blogger for a while and am just switching to WordPress.
I do not want to chose one of the themes WordPress has one their site. I searched on Google “free wordpress templates/layouts/themes” and I’ve found some that I’d like to use for my blog. When I click download, it downloads a zip file onto my PC. How do I get that onto my WordPress so that it becomes my WordPress template?
I found Blogger very intuitive with this, but WordPress is confusing me a tad.
Thank you so much!

Displaying the Timedate and Date on WordPress Posts

I have a question

How do you display the time you publish a post on WordPress? Usually it seems only show the date but not the time. Do I have to have a custom theme to do it? Right now I’m using a theme I found on WordPress so I don’t know what steps I’d take to also add the time (like make it Wednesday, June 22, 2010 at 9:15 pm) to when I publish posts. Step by step instructions would be valuable :)

How do I use a custom downloaded wordpress theme?

I have a question

I know how to download,
I know how to unzip it.
I know about ftp software(VERY NEW AT IT)
I dunno how do connect it,
all i know is i nid host, username and password,
and i hope to get all these done free..
is there a way?
a more specific answer pls..

Answer:  This only works if you have a self -hosted WordPress blog.  It doesn’t work at the free WordPress.com site.  You don’t even have to FTP or unzip the file.  Here’s how to do it.

  1. Go into your WordPress Dashboard to Appearance, Themes.
  2. Click on the Install Themes tab near the top of the page.
  3. Click the Upload link right under the menu tabs.
  4. Browse your hard drive for the zip file.
  5. Click the Install Now button.
  6. Click the Activate link.

To deactivate it, just reactivate some other theme.

Did you know that you can make your own WordPress themes with a program called Artisteer?  That way you don’t have to buy WordPress themes.  Click here to download Artisteer for free and try it out.

Good Quality WordPress Themes

I have a question

Does anybody know a site where i can buy some good quality wordpress themes?  The theme will be for a reviewing website.

Answer:  I stopped buying WordPress themes for review sites because they never have the colors and layout I want.  Plus, they ususally make you buy a developer’s license when you want to use the theme on more than one site.  Instead, I bought a program called Artisteer and I make all my own WordPress themes.  Click here to download Artisteer for free to try it out.  Couple that with some cool plugins and you can make your review sites scream!  There’s a really cool plugin called Easy Columns that you can use for creating multi-columns in your posts and pages just like a magazine layout.  It works in widgets, too.  Artisteer creates full width top and bottom widgets for above and below a post, along with footer widgets.  You can use Easy Columns in them.  Here is a Resistance Bands Review site I created with Artisteer and the Easy Columns plugin.  Easy Columns was used to place the 3 graphics in a horizontal row on the home page.  On the interior pages, I used a plugin called WP Table Reloaded to create the tables.
