When i upload the wordpress theme through filezilla i get a 500 error… some research suggest there may be no .htaccess file.  How do i check to see if there is one or how do i create one?

I’m totally new to this… im not sure if my files are in the root or not..how can i tell if its in the root?

Answer:  You can tell if your files are in the root if your domain name resolves to your WordPress blog.  Example:  When you type yourdomainname.com into the browswer’s address bar, to goes to your WordPress blog.  If it’s not in the root, you would have installed it in a sub-directory like yourdomainname.com/xxxx where xxxx is the name of the sub-directory.  BTW, you can make your own WordPress themes with Artisteer.  Give it a shot.  Download it for free.

I create websites as a hobby, it’s something I really enjoy doing. Everyone seems to be using wordpress and I have no idea how to use it.

I downloaded it and uploaded it to my cPanel and yeah I’m still baffled.

I make themes for fansites and now everyone is going with wordpress it seems only right that I should too, but I don’t want to be making something I can’t code (lol).  Does anyone have any links or information where I can read up about wordpress, how to install, work and create themes?

Answer:  I stopped building websites years ago and now only use WordPress.  It’s so easy because you don’t have to mess around with templates and linking pages.  With WordPress, you just spark it up and start typing your content. 

The easiest way to make a WordPress theme is not to code it.  LOL  Ok, so how do you do it?  By using an awesome program called Artisteer.  It does all the coding for you.  Click here to download Artisteer for free and try it out.  I’ve been using Artisteer for several years and the new version 3 is incredible!

Why did you upload WordPress to your cPanel?  It should already be there under Software, Fantastico.

I using WordPress for my blog. In the Header i lay the Category Menu.

I want when click in a category, In a right Bar will display a list link of all post in that category. A link has a icon which i choose when i write that post.

Please tell me how to do it? Tell me a plugin for that or Code of the bar which i need add to my site?( and how editing themes for that, editing PHP file and Css?).

Answer:  There is a WordPress plugin called List Category Posts.  Just create a post or page and insert the plugin shortcode into it.  Then put the page or post in your menu.  http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/list-category-posts/

I need a free wordpress theme for photography or portfolio.

What kind of template is it? and where can I buy one?  Where can I find a WordPress theme as the one on www.fourhourworkweek.com ? 

Answer:  That’s not a WordPress theme.  That’s a custom coded HTML theme.  You can make a WordPress theme pretty similar to it with Artisteer.  You can download Artisteer for free.  They just release the brand new version 3.0 yesterday, June 3, 2011.  I’ve been using the beta version for months.  It ROCKS!

How can I removed the sponsors from a wordpress theme?

Answer:  You’re not supposed to.  Why don’t you just make your own themes?  You can do that with a program called Artisteer.   Download it for free and try it out.  You’ll be able to control what goes into your footer.

Normal blogs have the title of the entry and then a short summary of the entry. I just want the title on the homepage, most themes won’t let you post unless you have a summary. Is there a theme that just shows the titles of the blog entry on the home page?

Answer:  There is a plugin that will do that called Homepage Excerpts.  You can limit the amount of text displayed for each post on the home page.
