Convert a HTML/CSS Template to a WordPress Theme

I have a question

I found the service http://themespress.com but per theme becomes really expensive when I want to convert like 20 HTML templates to WordPress themes. Is there an easy way to do the same thing as the site does? (use custom tags to define WordPress sections)

I’ve been told time and again that you just have to do it all manually and with PHP, but it seems like there must be an easier way. And the theme tutorials I’ve found seem great for simple themes, not something exceptional. I need like a “beginners guide to professional themes” or something.

Thanks for any help. And WordPress 3 is almost up to 2.5 million downloads! =)

Here’s my site if anyone is curious http://viperamped.com

  • There is no conversion software, if that’s what you’re looking for. That would be like turning an apple into an orange.

When I find a theme or website layout that I like, I just do my best to mimic it using Artisteer. You can download it for free and try it out.

Here’s my latest project. The Job Report. That’s WordPress theme that was build with Artisteer.

You’ll find the book "beginners guild to professional themes" right next to "the blind person’s instructions for reading printed pages".

Creating a WordPress theme isn’t simple, so there are no simple instructions for doing it.
