FTPing New Theme To WordPress.com
Question:
How are you supposed to install a WordPress theme when FTP doesn’t work? Since you cannot connect to WordPress with FTP, how are you supposed to apply another theme? The ones provided are so boring

The short answer is, you can’t. Not on WordPress.com. You also can’t take advantage of plugins. You also can’t put advertising on your WordPress blog. They’ll strip it right out. In addition to that, if you try using it for building linking schemes like link wheels to your main site, you’ll be shut down and lose everything you built. Been there, done that. WordPress.com is a great sandbox, but when you’re ready to get serious about your site, you need a self-hosted WordPress blog on your own web hosting account.

Then you can install whatever you like. WordPress runs great on their servers.
